 Frequently asked questions.

  • Yes, new clients are welcome both in person and virtually. Clients can join the waitlist, and the office will reach out as soon as an opening becomes available.

  • The first session involves an introductory discussion about the client’s needs, health history, support system, and life structure. The therapist expects the intake paperwork to be completed prior to the session, and for clients to arrive reasonably on time. Sessions typically last 53-58 minutes.

  • Yes, the office accepts the following insurance plans: Optum (United and UMR), Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Select Health (Care, Choice, Share, Med, and Value), and EMI Health.

  • In-home therapy is not offered, except through telehealth services from the client’s home.

  • Yes, clients can switch between in-person and telehealth sessions as long as there is clear and timely communication.

  • Yes, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is available. However, it is not used with every client. The decision to use EMDR is made on a case-by-case basis and can be discussed during a consultation.

  • No, couples therapy is not offered. The therapist only sees individual adults. However, in some cases, the client’s partner may join a session to facilitate a difficult conversation or to help the therapist better understand the client.

  • Yes, care coordination with a psychiatrist or primary care physician is ideal. Clients are encouraged to provide this information during intake.

  • Yes, the building requires a code for entry, which will be shared with clients. The code may change periodically for security purposes. While there are other professionals in the building, the office is a quiet and private space.

  • No, the building is not ADA-accessible. The office is located on the second floor, and there is no elevator.

  • Letters for emotional support animals are only provided for established clients with whom the therapist has a therapeutic relationship. This allows the therapist to determine how the animal could benefit the client’s mental health. Sessions should not be scheduled solely for the purpose of obtaining a letter.
